Named for Betty O'Hara, wife of the Uncle Bill behind Uncle Bill's Pancake House, Aunt Betty's opened in summer 2006 at 2100 Asbury Avenue on 21st Street, right beside the pancake house. Bamboo paneling, a palm-leaf fan and island music set the tropical mood for hand-dipped and soft-serve ice cream, Italian ice and homemade waffles. Sundaes like Betty's Favorite, with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, marshmallow and crushed pretzels, share the chalkboard with the Shack Special, a scoop pressed between two warm waffles, and Cappuccino Crunch is the flavor regulars chase. Even the dog gets a Dune Dog Delight on the way home from the beach.
