Mallon's has baked sticky buns the old-fashioned way at 1340 Bay Avenue since 1988, a family shop run by Ger, Jody and the next generation on the bayside. The buns are heavy with Korintje cinnamon, butter and a secret sticky topping, sold by the half dozen and dozen in plain, raisin, walnut and raisin-walnut, plus twelve fruit versions from apricot to Nutella baked into the glaze. The case adds award-winning crumbcake, hand-rolled bagels, glazed cinnamon swirls and homemade donuts, and fall brings pumpkin and apple walnut caramel pies. It is cash only at the counter (there is an ATM), and buns ship the day they are baked in the off-season.
