Smiley’s Red Barn

One of Hood River's original fruit stands sits on the corner of Highway 35 and Ehrck Hill, on land a European great-great-grandfather planted with apples in the 1890s. Five generations later the same family still farms it, splitting commercial crops between cherries and pears while growing peaches, apples, and other seasonal finds. The red barn fills with fresh-picked fruit alongside the jams, honey, and mustards the stand is known for. It is a quick, friendly stop on the Fruit Loop from cherry season in mid-June through the end of October, with the orchard's working harvest happening just beyond the counter.
