Herrington Manor State Park encompasses 365 acres around the 53-acre Herrington Lake, four miles north of Oakland. The park features a large sandy swimming beach with lifeguards in summer, 12 miles of hiking trails including the 5.5-mile connector to Swallow Falls State Park, canoeing, kayaking, biking, tennis, basketball, and 20 furnished rental log cabins. Admission is $5 per vehicle (Maryland residents) or $7 (out-of-state). Open year-round; peak swimming season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. Note: cabin area closed May–December 2026 for renovation.
