Savage Highlands State Park is Mountain Maryland's newest state park, purchased in November 2024 from the former Savage River Lodge private resort. The 40-acre property features a lodge, 18 cabins, and 8 yurts set amid the Mt. Aetna Tract of Savage River State Forest, with approximately 8 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. A phased public opening is anticipated for late summer 2026. Confirm current availability and reservation options at Maryland DNR before planning a visit.
