Walking Mountains Science Center is a nonprofit environmental education organization in Avon, Colorado between Vail and Beaver Creek. Free gentle naturalist-led hikes guide guests through aspen and riparian communities covering local ecology and animal adaptations. The Tang Campus Visitor Center features interactive alpine ecology exhibits, a learning lab, and a gift shop — all open to drop-in visitors. Guided backcountry snowshoe tours and hikes operate seasonally by reservation. Open year-round, with summer seven-day-a-week hours and Monday through Saturday hours the rest of the year.
