Merlin’s Magic Lantern Cinema
Ketchum's beloved four-screen cinema, open for 38 years
Sun Valley, ID | active | 4 to 8 hours

Sun Valley Huts carries on one of North America's oldest backcountry hut traditions, rooted here since Austrian ski guides built the Pioneer Cabin in 1938 — the continent's first purpose-built ski hut. Today six handcrafted huts are scattered across three Idaho mountain ranges: the Sawtooths, Smokies, and Pioneers. Each structure is built from native materials and provides a rustic base for ski touring, snowshoeing, mountain biking, and summer hiking. Groups can choose a guided experience with Sun Valley Guides or book a self-guided hut stay. Now operated by the Environmental Resource Center, a local nonprofit.
