Country Boy Mine opened in 1887 and is one of the oldest and most famous gold mines in Colorado, tucked in French Gulch just east of downtown Breckenridge. Guided tours walk 1,000 feet into the original tunnel where guides explain hard-rock mining, the life of a silver-and-gold miner, and the geology that built the Tenmile Range. Above ground, guests can pan for gold and gemstones, ride a 55-foot mining slide, visit the burros and chickens, and picnic on the 20-acre grounds. Great for families.
