The Cortez Cultural Center, operated by the Cortez Village Historical Society, preserves the history and stories of founding families in one of Florida's last intact commercial fishing villages. Set in the village of Cortez, the center's museum displays photographs, artifacts, and oral histories documenting the community's fishing heritage dating back to the 1880s. Events include live acoustic music on the front porch every second and fourth Saturday, an annual Commercial Fishing Festival each February, and seasonal coffees and social gatherings. Open by appointment; contact the center to schedule a visit.
