Barney Ford commissioned this stately Breckenridge home at age 60, after escaping enslavement and building businesses from Nicaragua to Denver. The restored museum honors his life as one of Colorado's leading businessmen and civil rights pioneers, with 30-minute guided tours of the first floor offered Tuesday through Sunday. Period antiques fill the rooms, and paintings from the Rocky Mountain PBS documentary are on display. In 2025 the site was named to the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. Free admission with a $5 suggested donation.
